//wasana.news.{visual artistry}; Israel Fatola, puts it...The major lesson I've learnt from this great man is that there can be no collective identity if there is no collective memory. It is in identifying your worth that you can now begin the journey to transformation. Mandela's liberation and continued work is a testament to this. Which part of your home would you hang this newly completed artpiece?

//wasana.news. {global news}; UK armed forces have extracted 11,474 British and Afghan nationals out of Kabul since the mission began on Aug.13, the UK Defense Ministry said in a statement Wednesday. According to the statement, “the evacuation process will run as long as the security situation allows in joint coordination with our US partners. No firm date has yet been set for the end of evacuation flights.” Tensions continue to build around Kabul's airport perimeter as Afghans face down Taliban harassment in hopes of fleeing the country. Given the Taliban said they do not want Afghans traveling to the airport, UK troops will need to have the final civilian evacuations from Kabul wrapped up within 48 hours, David Richards, the former head of the British armed forces, said on Wednesday. The UK has evacuated almost 7,000 Afghans and their families during the operation, the ministry confirmed. Named Operation Pitting, the military evacuation includes embassy staff, British nationals, those eligible under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP) program and a number of nationals from partner nations.

//wasana.news. {education matter: Afghan}; The co-founder of the only all-girls private boarding school in Afghanistan said Tuesday that nearly 250 students, faculty, staff, and family members had made it out of the war-torn country and will temporarily resettle in Rwanda for a "semester abroad" for the entire study body. "SOLA (School of Leadership, Afghanistan) is resettling, but our resettlement is not permanent," Shabana Basij-Rasikh tweeted. "A semester abroad is exactly what we're planning. When circumstances on the ground permit, we hope to return home to Afghanistan." Basij-Rasikh also thanked the governments of Qatar, Rwanda, and the United States for helping the girls escape.

//wasana.news.{fitness.lifestye.vitality}; Why big buttocks can be bad for your health. by Irene caselli, The demand for bigger buttocks in Venezuela means some women will even have banned injections to achieve them, putting their health at risk. It is with tears in her eyes that Denny recounts how she woke up one day to find a bump the size of a football in her lower back. She could not walk or bend down, and the pain was intense. Even before she saw a doctor, Denny, a 35-year-old Venezuelan lawyer, knew the bump must be a side-effect of liquid silicone that had been injected in her buttocks. It had moved into her back and was putting pressure on her spine. "It was a terrible shock. I couldn't walk. That's how my agony started," she says. Buttock injections are one of many common cosmetic procedures Venezuelan women undergo to achieve what society deems to be beautiful. The injections were banned by the government in 2012, six years after Denny had the But the practice continues in spite of the ban. Up to 30% of women between 18 and 50 choose to have these injections, according to the Venezuelan Plastic Surgeons Association. Men also get injected to boost their pectoral muscles, though the numbers are lower.

//wasana.news. {caribbea: politics}; Governor General Dame Sandra Mason has been nominated to be the first President as Barbados moves to become a republic by November 30. In addition, Barbadians have been given the assurance that there will be no change to the country’s name, flag, pledge or the name of Independence Day. This was outlined by Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, during an address to the nation on Saturday. “There is no change to the flag. There is no change to the name of Independence Day; there is no change to the name of Barbados. Barbados is Barbados. We’re not the Commonwealth of Barbados; we’re not the Republic of Barbados; Barbados is Barbados. We are also not changing our pledge.” Mottley explained that between now and November, it was Government’s intention to put a Bajan as the country’s head of state, and Dame Sandra was the person nominated, and has consented to the nomination. She said Dame Sandra’s nomination would now be subject to the vote of Members of Parliament in the House of Assembly and the Senate.

//wasana.news. {THE FALL AGAIN OF AFGHANISTAN} ...FROM; MICHAEL KELVINTON, A PROFESSOR OF MILITARY SCIENCE, USA.'' There are no words to describe the swell of emotions I’ve felt this weekend. And words cannot accurately describe the situation, nor would it be appropriate to let emotions drive my comments at the moment. I will leave you with this photo, taken in 2012 after the death of an Afghan elder I served with - killed by an IED on a joint operation. Unless you know me personally, you would've never heard this story. I picked up pieces of his body to return to his family - literally walked through an uncleared field with a Soldier carrying a mine detector (who later committed suicide) and my linguist carrying my M4 behind me - while I gathered chunks of flesh and bone. I deeply believed in our mission, and still do. I also deeply cared for my partners, Afghans and Iraqis alike, in this fight against terrorism. That space blanket in the photo is what's left of Ghulam Dasteger. My heart breaks for the Afghan people, for those of foreign militaries I fought alongside, for the Gold Star families I deeply love, and for the Rangers and Paratroopers I shed blood with. Reach out to a buddy tonight, call them, text them, let them know they're not alone, and remind them the work we did was honorable. Don't allow yourself to be the next casualty of this war by your own hand - you have too many out there who understand your pain and are willing to help. We shined a light in some of the darkest places on the globe. We did our job, we supported righteous endeavors. We ensured tens of thousands of terrorists never died from old age. For my Afghan brothers, you and your families continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. We now leave this to policy makers, historians, and the American people - we give you our dead, you give them their meaning. I charge all of you with now being a part of picking up the pieces''.

//wasana.news. {AFGHANISTAN MATTER}; {War veterans react to stunning Afghanistan collapse}; by: Jorge L. Ortiz and Deirdre Shesgreen, USA TODAY Rebekah Sanderlin has never been to Afghanistan, and yet she says the war-torn nation of 39 million has “permeated every single part of our lives’’ for the last two decades. As the wife of an Army veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan about seven times, the last one less than two years ago, Sanderlin developed an affinity for the Afghans based on her husband’s experience with them and her own research. She uses terms like "terrifying’" and “heartbreaking’’ when pondering their fate now that the ruthless Taliban has taken over the country in stunningly fast fashion, toppling the government of President Ashraf Ghani, prompting him to flee and forcing the U.S. to rush out its personnel. After more than 2,300 Americans were killed and 20,000 were wounded in a 20-year war that cost the U.S. an estimated $2.26 trillion, Sanderlin said many military families are wondering if all their blood and sweat — in addition to the months of separation and the missed special occasions — were all for naught. "There are a lot of veterans who are grappling with: ‘Was it worth it? Were all of our sacrifices wasted?'" Sanderlin said, adding that many are conflicted about the Biden administration’s decision to pull out the U.S. troops, which opened the door for the Taliban’s insurgency. "There’s a very defined, clear, loud group that feels like, as much as we hate what’s happening, it was time for the war to end. At the same time, there’s another very clear, outspoken group that says we’re betraying the Afghans, and we’re walking away from an opportunity to have done something really good." Sanderlin, a mother of three whose husband of 18 years is now retired from the military, counts herself among those who are torn about the troop withdrawal, changing her mind seemingly every hour and feeling like there were no good options. Stunningly fast: After two decades and billions spent, Afghan government collapses as Taliban takes Kabul

/wasana.news. {hollywood. America. multitasking. entrepreneur.}. Hally not so happy non a black woman has won an oscar after her...watch this..In 2002, Halle Berry won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball. Nearly 20 years later, Berry remains the only Black woman to have ever received the prestigious accolade — a distinction that upsets her.“The heartbreak I have is because I really thought that night meant that very soon after that, other women of color, Black women, would stand beside me. Now it’s been 20 years and no one has, and so every time Oscar time comes around, I get very reflective and I think, ‘Well maybe this year, maybe this year,’” the 54-year-old star told the Mirror in an interview. “It has become heartbreaking that no one else has stood there. ”It’s not the first time Berry has reflected on her expectations for Hollywood and the fact that no other Black woman has followed her historic win. In Variety last fall, Berry shared, “I thought Cynthia [Erivo, the star of Harriet] was going to do it last year. I thought Ruth [Negga, nominated for 2016’s Loving] had a really good shot at it too. I thought there were women that rightfully, arguably, could have, should have. I hoped they would have, but why it hasn’t gone that way, I don’t have the answer.” culled from Elena Sheppard. as edited by us. ---edward piper, fitness and celebrity trainer, Resource: human organization and ethically directorate forte.

The woman, Kristen McMullen, 30, was hospitalized with the virus July 21, her aunt Melissa Syverson said Thursday. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia and sent home after four days, but she was hospitalized again on July 26. She delivered her daughter, Summer Reign, by emergency C-section July 27 and was transferred to the intensive care unit. McMullen was placed on a ventilator last Friday and died the same day, her family said. “That first week, honestly, Kristen's main concern was Summer and just making sure that she was OK,” Syverson said. //wasana.news. {story that hits}; The Aghori Babas, who live in the city of Varanasi, India, are famous for eating the dead. They believe that the greatest fear human beings have is the fear of their own deaths and that this fear is a barrier to spiritual enlightenment. This mysterious tribe is known for its disturbing nature to eat anything. The Aghori Babas live in cemeteries and feast on human flesh as part of their rituals. They will also eat rotten food, putrefied garbage, and even excreta such as human faeces or urine. Most times, these items are consumed out of a human skull bowl or some other dish made from human bones. culled from BBC: //wasana.news. The Nigerian government is demanding punishment for Indonesian immigration officials who were filmed assaulting a Nigerian diplomat. Footage circulating on social media showed Abdulrahman Ibrahim, a consular officer based in Jakarta, being held down in a vehicle by several men. Nigeria called it "an egregious act of international delinquency by the Indonesian state". It vowed to review bilateral relations with the south-east Asian nation. The video showed one of the officials putting his hand on the diplomat's head and pushing it back against a seat. Between yells of protest, Mr Ibrahim repeated: "I can't breathe." Later in the one-minute-and-30-second clip Mr Ibrahim was heard saying: "My neck, my neck." Mr Ibrahim had been detained on a street in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. The incident has caused anger in Nigeria, with many saying it shows the disdain that other countries hold for Nigerians. Some are calling for a full explanation from the Indonesian government. Nigeria's foreign ministry had previously sent a letter of protest to the Indonesian government saying the mistreatment Mr Ibrahim endured was "against international law and the Vienna Conventions governing diplomatic and consular relations between states". Indonesia's envoy to Nigeria was also summoned on Monday over the incident and apologised on behalf of his government, the foreign ministry said. Immigration officials had also apologised to Nigeria's ambassador to Indonesia, it added. Meanwhile Nigeria's ambassador in Jakarta has been called home to give a full report to the government, and the foreign ministry says consultations will continue.

culled from Derek Major. //wasana.news. {entrepreneur}; The world’s richest Black man, Aliko Dangote, could add more than $2.5 billion to his net worth depending on the terms of the sale of a 20 percent share of his oil refinery. Reuters reported last week Nigeria’s government has approved its state oil firm the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to buy a 20% share of Dangote’s oil refinery. According to Afrotech, Timipre Sylva, the junior oil minister said in a statement NNPC will pay $2.76 billion for the 20% share. The NNPC told Reuters its move to work with private companies is an effort to safeguard the country’s energy security and the purchase would not affect plans to refurbish its own refineries. NNPC is currently approaching banks to finance the purchase of the refinery. The deal came together as Nigeria secures crude oil supply agreements in order to cut its foreign dependence on refined oil. Afrotech reports Nigeria is Africa’s top exporter of crude oil, but the country also exclusively imports all its refined oil, due to defunct state refineries, thus the interest in Dangote’s refinery. Dangote, who was born in Kano, Nigeria, is worth more than $12 billion according to Forbes and is overseeing the construction of what will be one of the world’s largest oil refineries, which is expected to end the country’s dependence on foreign refined oil. Once completed, the refinery is expected to produce 650,000 barrels of refined oil per day. Earlier this year, Nigeria approved $1.5 billion in spending on the refurbishment and modernization of the Port Harcourt oil refinery. The country has also approved the upgrades of the Warri and Kaduna refineries which will cost a combined $1.4 billion. Dangote owns 85% of Dangote Cement, which produces 45.6 million metric tons of cement per year and has more than 10 locations throughout Africa. Dangote also has investments in sugar and salt refineries which have largely contributed to his multi-billion dollar fortune.

Alvin Motley Jr., who was described by his family at a press conference Tuesday as disabled, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was at a Kroger fuel center with his girlfriend, Pia Foster, when he and the security guard, Gregory Livingston, got into a verbal altercation over the volume of music coming from their car, according to police. Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney representing the Motley family, said at a press conference Tuesday that this case is similar to that of Jordan Davis’, a 17-year-old Black teenager who was shot and killed in 2012 by a man who complained about Davis’ loud music. Almost 200 people have been infected since the virus was first detected at the city's busy airport on 20 July. All flights from Nanjing airport will be suspended until 11 August, according to local media. Officials also began city-wide testing amid criticism for their "failure". All 9.3 million of the city's residents - including those visiting - will be tested, said state-controlled Xinhua news. //wasana.news. {fitness and lifestyle: infant}; A baby thought to be the world's smallest at birth has been discharged from a Singapore hospital after 13 months of intensive treatment. Kwek Yu Xuan was just 212g (7.47oz) - the weight of an apple - when she was born and measured 24cm long. She was delivered at just under 25 weeks - far short of the average 40. The previous record holder was a girl in the US who weighed 245g at birth in 2018, according to the University of Iowa's Tiniest Babies Registry. Yu Xuan's mother gave birth to her by emergency C-section four months early after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia - dangerously high blood pressure that can damage vital organs and be fatal for both mother and baby. Yu Xuan now weighs a much healthier 6.3kg (14 pounds). The baby girl had a "limited chance of survival", according to Singapore's National University Hospital (NUH) where she was born. "Against the odds, with health complications present at birth, she has inspired people around her with her perseverance and growth, which makes her an extraordinary 'Covid-19' baby - a ray of hope amid turmoil," the hospital said in a statement.
